Love Letter Written by Lucas to Mary

My Beloved Mary,
We first met in the airport just before I flew out on my mission. She was eight and was there to see her brother leave for his mission. Fortunately, neither of us remember. Her brother remembers me crying a good portion of the flight from the Pocatello to the Salt Lake City airport, and reminded me of this near the start of our courtship. Thus, Mary is the only girlfriend that waved farewell to my plane as I left for Brazil. I am glad you waited for me.
Mary, my heart is full. I cannot express the happiness that I feel. I have had some great years and experiences in the past. Still, my heart was aching from loneliness as I was yearning for someone special in my life. I am feeling disbelief that this is actually happening. This is the start of something special and sacred. We will be able to fulfill one of the major purposes of life together. You have gained my trust in many ways. If I could. I would give you anything that you would like in this life. I know that you will not ask amiss. As a mother, you will add a balance to my strengths and weaknesses. Your character is nurturing and comforting. I feel peace when I am with you. While I waited patiently, I have averaged at least one date a week which totals 448 since I have returned from serving a mission. I have dated many girls seriously. Someday you may wonder why I have chosen you. Some people say it’s all about timing. For years now, I would have married if I felt like I do now with you. Timing was only the reason for our long courtship. Others think it is more a product of chance or convenience. For years now, I would have flown across the world to find someone like you. Some others believe that any two good people can make anything work. I would never have made anything work with anyone else, ever until I was positive that her and I were as compatible as you and I are and will be. I yearn for you to be mine. You are my right person. There is nobody in this world that I would rather be with. Your beauty and goodness leave me yearning to be together forever. You fulfill all of my boyhood fantasies for attraction. You surpass all of my missionary expectations for spiritual strength. As an adult, you are ambitious, responsible, and smart, You have a wonderful character. You are loving but stern, fun but responsible, silly but serious, patient but aggressive. You have the balance that I want and need. When I felt like you were ready to leave me if I didn’t take steps towards marriage, I could not let you go. I knew then as I know now that I want to be with you forever. I Love You!
My feelings swell within me as I think of us. Since the day that you agreed to marry me, a warmth has been with me, optimism clears my mind. Baby girl, I am so happy to be with You! I have waited all of my life for my missing half. All of my close high school friends are married. All of my siblings that are old enough, are married. Even at my 10-year class reunion, I can only think of one other person that was still single.
